PSA is up to 4.0

PSA is up to 4.0, which means, unfortunately that Xtandi is loosing it's efficacy. Sooooo....I'm back to four tabs a day from three. I've been on this medication long enough now that adding the extra tablet hasn't caused any noticeable side effects. I'll know in a few weeks if it has helped. Let's hope.

Xtandi for the win.

Today was Dr. day. PSA is down to 0.2. That is ZERO POINT TWO. I am tolerating
Xtandi much better than I was. Could be because I'm taking three pills a day
instead of four. No more headaches YEA.

Xtandi doesn't work for everybody, but for me it's been a lifesaver.

3 piils a day

I'm now down to 3 Xtandi pills a day (from 4) per drs instructions. The goal being to minimize the headaches. So far I'm tolerating that dosage OK. My next PSA test will be July 16th.

ONE POINT FOUR !!!!!

I am in shock. My oncologist just called to tell me that my PSA is down from 49.7 to 1.4. That's ONE POINT FOUR. This from only one month on Xtandi (my new prostate cancer drug). Unbelievable !!!!!

5/16 - But there is a problem. After a month and a few weeks I have discovered Xtandi side effects. Extremely painful and debilitating headaches. So bad that I have stopped taking the pills. Dr. says stay off the pills for a week, then start again. We'll see what happens then.

6/3 - Resumed taking Xtandi pills a week ago. Dr. called this AM to tell me that....
My PSA is now down to zero point four. WOW !!!
0.4  0.4  0.4  0.4  0.4  Booyah !!!!

Xtandi for the win (I hope)

For some strange reason I have a hard time believing this, but it is what it is.

Da Vinci RP in June 2007. All good until August 2014.

Beginning in August of last year my PSA readings began to increase and it's been steadily upward ever since, reaching 49.7 last month.

I've been taking Zytiga for the last four months which has had no affect at all on my PSA levels. I started on Xtandi a week ago. Monday of this week I went to the lab to have blood drawn for my monthly PSA test.

Today (Wednesday) I went to see the oncologist and he told me that my PSA had dropped from 49 to 31 !!!!!!!

So four days on Xtandi = an 18 point drop in PSA.

I'm having a difficult time with this. Four days on a new med drops my PSA 18 points !!!??? So is this a fluke, a statistical aberration of some kind?

The oncologist didn't question this, so the only way to be sure this isn't an anomaly of some kind is to have another PSA test. That will happen in 4 weeks and then I will know for sure.

Wish me luck.

Xtandi

I'll be starting Xtandi in the next couple of days, as soon as I can summon up the courage.
Xtandi does not have a warm and fuzzy reputation among Prostate Cancer sufferers.
There are apparently a number of unpleasant side effects.

I guess I'll just do my best to tough it out.
