Some Observations...

When I started this prostate cancer journey I had no idea that I should be concerned about prostate health. I wasn't even sure what a prostate was, so I jumped on the internet and searched for prostate cancer books and any information about prostate diseases I could find.

The amount of information available is overwhelming and can be very confusing.

I ended up having a laproscopic Radical Prostatectomy. This is the surgical removal of the prostate utilizing the Da Vinci surgical robot (robot is a misleading term since the surgeon is actually operating the machine). I did this but to this day (9 years later) I'm not 100% convinced it was the right choice for me.

I recommend that everyone always get at least one second opinion before committing to to any course of treatment.

I also HIGHLY recommend that you find and join an active prostate cancer support group.

Here are some other medical terms and forms of treatment that the reader should research on his own as they are not all covered in the book.

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
prostatitis
prostate surgery
PSA Test
needle biopsy
targeted biopsy
bone metastases.
Prostatectomy
Radical Prostatectomy
proton therapy
Radiation Therapies - IMRT, SBRT (CyberKnife), Proton, Brachytherapy
Cryotherapy
Focal Laser Ablation (FLA)
High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU)

May The Force be with You.
